The Canal Society of New York State is proud to be one of the primary sponsors of the 2010 World Canals Conference in Rochester.
The greater Rochester area first hosted this conference in 2000 and the Canal Society was part of making that happen as well. Since then, many canal developments have taken place in the Rochester area, making this conference just as exciting as the first one:
Cornhill Landing and Brooks Landing in Rochester, plus new developments in Brockport, Spencerport, Palmyra, Newark plus further development of older parks, like Fairport, Pittsford, and Macedon.

with the New York State Canal System, virtually unknown in 2000, now manifests itself with the National Park Service's Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor.
that at long last have taken root -Restoring the Old Erie Canal to Downtown Rochester, Restoring the 19th century "Flight of 5" locks at Lockport.
